Dr. Sahana Ponnuvelu, a native of Coimbatore, graduated from Coimbatore Medical College with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in the year 2015. She received distinction in multiple subjects during this period.
She subsequently started her training in ENT Head and Neck surgery in Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, Haryana. She was the batch topper in her final postgraduate ENT exam.
She has gained experience in all the domains of ENT and has presented numerous clinical and research work in National and State level conferences. She has about 9 research papers published in different national and international journals.
She did her Senior residency in St .Stephens hospital, Tis Hazari, New Delhi. Under the guidance of Dr Susan K Sebastian, she gained experience in numerous head and neck surgeries including thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. She has also managed many cases of post COVID Mucormycosis during the period.
She subsequently worked in AIIMS Raipur, where she gained immense experience in skull base surgeries including Pituitary Surgery and CSF leak repairs apart from managing other head and neck cases.
She then joined as an Assistant Professor in Karpagam Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore where she was involved in teaching under and Post Graduate students apart from operating on a wide number of patients.
She is a member of Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI) and All India Rhinology Society (AIRS).
Dr. Sahana is known for her patience and resilience in patient care, and believes that making courageous and timely decision is important in bringing excellent patient outcome. She is an enthusiastic person who is interested in innovation and research and applies the latest evidence-based techniques in treating the patients.
